How the room came together.
The brief
This room was originally a spare bedroom but the owners wanted a room to read and listen to music in. Floor to ceiling wardrobes were built to hide clutter and house the music system and DVDs they had, leaving a calm, serene space to enjoy their pastimes. Most people have an underlying colour palette they naturally gravitate towards and this couple had bought a piece of artwork that then became the basis of the colours showcased in the room – warm browns, a rich yellow, silvery greys and some deep smoky blues. This palette is being extended through the rest of the house to create a coordinated approach to the building as a whole.
